1. "The Bride Unfastens Her Braids, the Groom Faints" -
Ladino Love Songs



In 1999, Eitan Steinberg and Etty Ben-Zaken started collecting Judeo-Spanish love songs and wedding songs. Some of the songs were familiar to Etty, who heard them as a child from her grandmother. Additional songs were added to them, from the Sephardic communities in Jerusalem, the Balkans and Morocco. Eitan Steinberg composed the musical settings, fusing his contemporary musical language with the songs' early and folk character. The concert was successfully performed in numerous venues in Israel and abroad, recorded on the New Albion Records label and shown on the Israeli TV. The concert wins audience and critical acclaim in 3 different versions composed by Steinberg, with Ben-Zaken as soloist:

Version for voice and orchestra - Commissioned in 2004 by the Israeli Chamber Orchestra, and premiered by it with Ben-Zaken as soloist. In 2008 Ben-Zaken performed the show also with Haifa Symphony and with the Jerusalem Camerata.



2. "The Love Medicine" - Etty Ben-Zaken and guitarist
Oded Shoub

This unique concert celebrates folk love songs and love tales from around the world: Etty Ben-Zaken, accompanied by Oded Shoub, and with musical settings by Eitan Steinberg, performs old English ballads, medieval Ladino Romancas and love songs in Hebrew, Arabic, Armenian, Yiddish, Spanish, German and French. The concert was premiered in Dec. 2006 in Malta, and is widely performed since.

3. "Stabat Mater" Etty Ben-Zaken and the Israeli
Contemporary Quartet

An interdisciplinary show, in which Etty Ben-Zaken performs two related works: "Stabat Mater" by Antonio Vivaldi, and "Stabat Mater - a Human Prayer" - a Music-Theater by Eitan Steinberg and Etty Ben-Zaken. The show was commissioned in 2004 by the Voice of Music Festival in Upper Galilee, and was performed in a full staged version also in the Tel Aviv Museum (The International Biennial for Contemporary Music, 2004) and in Rishon Lezion (The 6th Annual Spring Festival, 2005). "Stabat Mater - a Human Prayer was performed successfully also in a concert version, in the Mallarme concert series in NC, USA (2006), and in the Orchestrutopica concert series in Lisbon, Portugal. In Dec. 2008 a full staged show is expected in Haifa, Israel.

4. Etty Ben-Zaken and Anat Pick:
"Ester" Sound-text performance
Sound-Text artist Anat Pick and vocalist Etty Ben-Zaken, are two of Israel's most prominent and active performers. On October 2005 they founded a duo, focusing on Sound-Text pieces, improvisations and contemporary experimental works, some of which are written especially for the duo by leading Israeli composers. Since the duo was founded, it has performed on Israel's most important stages including The International Contemporary Music Biennial at the Tel Aviv Museum, and the Israel Music Days in the Jerusalem Theater.
