Eitan Steinberg and Etty BenZaken are two prominent artists, each renown in his/her own field: Eitan Steinberg is an award-winning composer of contemporary concert music, and Etty BenZaken is a prolific multidisciplinary artist, well apptriciated as a voice artist, author, visual artist, director and designer of Music-Theater works. Eitan Steinberg is one of Israel’s most prominent and active concert music composers. His works are frequently performed in Israel, Europe and the USA, and have won him, among other awards, the ACUM Prize for Lifetime Achievement (2014), Israel Prime Minister Composers Award (2007, 2018) and Landau Prize for the Arts (2010). He composes chamber operas and music-theater works, orchestral and chamber works, choral and solo works, and alongside them, as an ongoing life project, numerous arrangements of folk songs from Israel's ethnic communities. Performers of his music include renowned orchestras, ensembles and soloists. His collaboration with his wife, vocalist Etty BenZaken, has yielded over thirty works he has composed for her voice, treating voice, text and languages in a unique personal way. Together they have founded Modalius Ensemble, in which Steinberg was active as conductor, composer and arranger. Eitan Steinberg is also known as a conductor of contemporary music and is a full professor (emeritus) in the Department of Music at the University of Haifa. His own musical education includes composition studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music (BA, MA), at the Chigiana Academy in Italy (Diploma), and at UC Berkeley, USA (Ph.D.).
איתן שטיינברג הוא מן הבולטים והפעילים שבמלחיני המוסיקה האמנותית בישראל. יצירותיו מבוצעות תדיר בישראל, אירופה וארה"ב, וזיכו אותו, בין השאר, בפרס אקו"ם על מפעל חיים (2014), בפרס ראש הממשלה לקומפוזיטורים (2007, 2018) ובפרס לנדאו לאמנויות (2010). בין יצירותיו אופרות קאמריות ויצירות תיאטרון-מוסיקה, יצירות תזמורתיות וקאמריות, יצירות מקהלתיות ויצירות סולו, ולצדן, כמפעל חיים מתמשך, עשרות רבות של עיבודים לשירי-עם מהקהילות האתניות בישראל. בין מבצעי יצירותיו נמנים מיטב התזמורות, האנסמבלים והסולנים. שיתוף הפעולה שלו עם רעייתו, אמנית-הקול והיוצרת אתי בן-זקן, הניב למעלה משלושים יצירות שכתב לקולה תוך גישה ייחודית לקול, טקסט ושפה. יחד ייסדו את אנסמבל מודאליוס, שבו שטיינברג פעל כמנהל-אמנותי שותף, מנצח, מלחין ומעבד. איתן שטיינברג מוכר גם כמנצח של מוסיקה עכשווית והינו פרופסור מן המניין (אמריטוס) בחוג למוסיקה של אוניברסיטת חיפה. השכלתו המוסיקלית כוללת לימודי קומפוזיציה באקדמיה למוסיקה בירושלים (תואר ראשון ותעודת אמן), באקדמיה קיג'אנה בסיינה (דיפלומה), ובאוניברסיטת קליפורניה בברקלי ארה"ב (תואר דוקטור).

Etty BenZaken is a multi-disciplinary artist, the recipient of Rosenblum Prize for Outstanding Artists (2018). As a concert singer she has won audiences' and critics' acclaim for performing on prominent stages in Israel, Europe and the USA, focusing on contemporary works, most of which were composed especially for her voice. She is equally known for performing ethnic music from Israel’s various communities in more than 15 languages. Her singing has been widely recorded on CDs, radio, television and documentaries. At the same time, BenZaken is a prolific creative artist in the fields of literature, theater and visual art: she is the author of three published books and the editor of a fourth book; she is the director and designer of chamber operas and Music-Theater shows; Her original sound-works accompany video works and artists' exhibitions, and her visual art-works are shown in exhibitions. For 11 years she taught at the Theater Department of the University of Haifa. Her own education includes music studies at the Jerusalem Music Academy, theater studies at the Jerusalem School of Visual Theater, as well as BA and MA in literature (both with distinction) from the University of Haifa. In December 2019, after more than three decades of performing as a singer, she announced her last full concert as a soloist, and since then she concentrates on recordings and on her creative work.
אתי בן-זקן היא אמנית רב תחומית זוכת פרס רוזנבלום לאמנים ויוצרים מצטיינים (2018). כזמרת קונצרטים, הופיעה על מיטב הבמות בישראל ובחו"ל וזכתה לשבחי הקהל והמבקרים כמבצעת של יצירות בנות-זמננו, מרביתן יצירות שהולחנו במיוחד לקולה. לצד בקיאותה בטכניקות קוליות עכשוויות, הרבתה לבצע שירי-עם מקהילות שונות בישראל, ביותר מ-15 שפות. שירתה הוקלטה בהרחבה בתקליטורים, ברדיו, בטלוויזיה ובסרטי תעודה. במקביל, בן-זקן פעילה כיוצרת בתחומי הספרות, התיאטרון והאמנות הפלסטית: עד כה ראו אור שלושה ספרים מפרי עטה וספר נוסף בעריכתה; היא כתבה, ביימה ועיצבה מופעי תיאטרון-מוסיקה ואופרות קאמריות שהוצגו בישראל ובחו"ל; יצירות סאונד שלה מלוות תערוכות וסרטי-וידאו של אמנים שונים, ועבודותיה החזותיות מוצגות בתערוכות. במשך 11 שנים לימדה בחוג לתיאטרון של אוניברסיטת חיפה. השכלתה כוללת לימודי מוסיקה באקדמיה למוסיקה בירושלים, לימודי בימוי ופרפורמנס בביה"ס לתיאטרון חזותי בירושלים, ותואר ראשון ושני (שניהם בהצטיינות) מהחוג לספרות של אוניברסיטת חיפה. בדצמבר 2019, אחרי יותר משלושה עשורים של הופעות כזמרת הכריזה על הקונצרט המלא האחרון שלה כסולנית, ומאז היא מתרכזת בהקלטות וביצירה.
